I love false lashes. They are a beautiful enhancement to bring out the beauty of a woman's eyes. They have grown in popularity in recent months & brands boast about how theirs can be used and reused up to 25 times, and they charge you $30 for mink, fox, synthetic and even some human hair lashes! In reality, unless you're going to dedicate the time to clean, prep, disinfect and store lashes to be reused it's not worth it in my opinion!
All About Falsies:
Lashes are meant to enhance your eyes natural shape that you already have. So not all styles will look good on all eye shapes and you do want them to look natural. Although we are exaggerating our features by wearing them, we want people to think we've got it like that! We also want them to adhere and blend in flawlessly to our natural lashes.
Lashes need to be tailored to fit properly so I always custom cut, fit and style my clients lashes. sometimes I can get away with not cutting lashes but that's rare!
Types of Falsies that are trending:
Mink & Fox Hair Lashes: I love animals, so anything that involves animal hair is a big fat no-no to me in general. There is no reason to wear a bushy mink or fox strip on your lashes. Although it mimics human hair, it's not human hair, and looks fake. MAC lashes although pretty they are typically a mix of fox and mink hair (unless labelled)!
Synthetic Hair Lashes: Synthetic hair lashes are okay, but look synthetic and plasticy depending on the brand. Some brands will mix the synthetic hairs with human hairs. It's the same concept as a synthetic hair weave for your head.. it won't style properly and look false.
100% Human Hair Lashes are the way to go! Not only is the hair type similar to your natural lashes but they're lighter in weight than the other options. One of my top concerns from clients is the heavy feeling on their eyelids although you forget about them after a few minutes. You want them to look like they're yours! Many random brands at the drug store are human hair, so as long as the band is thin and it says 100% human hair go for it!
Why I Don't Splurge on Lashes:
I refuse to spend more than $9 on a pair of falsies. I never reuse because I personally feel it's unhygienic. I don't wear lashes often; only business or special occasion purposes so for a one time deal it's not necessary to spend more than $2! I only wear Lilly Lashes for business purposes, otherwise Ardell, Red Cherry and Miss Adoro are my go-tos. The quality of these brands are soooo similar. Lilly Lashes are higher quality and more durable, however if we put all of these side to side in the same style you would never know which was which. If you insist on reusing lashes then Lilly Lashes human hair line is the way to go of my choices.

Red Cherry ~$3 www.ladymoss.com
Miss Adoro ~$2 www.ladymoss.com
Lilly Lashes $9 www.lillylashes.com
Wearing falsies is fun, they make us feel glamorous and fierce! Why restrict yourself to a few pairs of lashes that you reuse and become bored when there are 100s of styles that you can play with? I love creating different looks with lashes: I'll cut, trim, and layer pieces of lashes or stack full pairs of lashes to create a specific lash look. I wouldn't be able to do that if I was planning on reusing them! I surely wouldn't spend $30 on lashes to cut them up!
Tips About Wearing False Lashes:
Everyone's eyes are different, a lot of brands make their bands really long so that they can be cut to fit your eye so
always measure them against your eye lid first, if it goes past where your natural lashes begin and end in most cases that's where you should cut them to fit! I like to start my lashes farther away from my tearduct, and often place them on the outer 2/3 of my eye instead of my full lash line. I do this because the inner corner typically has the least bit of natural lash & bands lift the easiest here when we blink. To keep my lashes from falling off from the inner corner I start them where my lashes are naturally the fullest!
If you do not have natural lashes or they are thinning:
Measure the lashes by holding them up to your eye and make sure that they are in a comfortable spot. Place them as close and comfortably to where your lash line would be and not too close to your tearduct or outer corner!
In this case, reusing is not a bad idea at all, and I would suggest it especially if you will use them daily! I would not suggest stacking multiple pairs or anything thick and heavy. Lilly Lashes human hair would be great for you, because of their high quality and durability!
